Screenwriter Benedict Fitzgerald has settled his lawsuit against Mel Gibson over “The Passion of the Christ” weeks before the trial was scheduled to start on June 3.

Fitzgerald sued Gibson and several companies for $10 million claiming that the budget for the film was understated. Fitzgerald also claimed that Gibson spent thousands of dollars on expenses and told him that he would not receive any money from the film. Several other claims had been earlier thrown out.
