Henrik Ruben Genz’ “Terribly Happy” is the Danish contender for the 2010 Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Language Film

“Terribly Happy” was chosen by the Danish Oscar-committee today as Denmark’s entry for the Academy Award nominations 2010.
About the film and its director
“Terribly Happy” is about Robert, who has a number of skeletons in his closet and he’s determined to bury them. Although hardly his dream job, Robert sees the position of temporary village constable as a necessary stage on the road to rehabilitation. He just needs to do well and generally behave by the book. However, village life and the macabre provincial order don’t fit easily into Robert’s plans.
This is director Henrik Ruben Genz’ third feature film. His feature film debut “Someone Like Hodder”, studded with international awards, was followed by “Chinaman”, his first film for a mature audience. His film “Teis & Nico” received an Academy Award Nomination in the short film category.
The screenplay, based on a novel by Erling Jepsen, is by Henrik Ruben Genz and Dunja Gry Jensen. Thomas Gammeltoft produced for Fine & Mellow Productions. TrustNordisk handle international sales. Leading players are Jakob Cedergren, Kim Bodnia, Lene Maria Christensen and Lars Brygmann.
