Minneapolis resident Rob Perez makes his directing debut on the independent comedy film “nobody.” Perez who wrote the 2002 Josh Hartnett movie, “40 Days and 40 Nights,” also co-wrote the “nobody” script with Guster frontman Ryan Miller, who composed the score. Josh Hartnett is an executive producer of “nobody.”

The comedy will screen on Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theatre in downtown Minneapolis.

Minnesota native Sam Rosen plays Lindeman a sculptor in his last semester at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Lindeman is stuck on his final project, a two ton block of granite. He needs to be inspired, but the problem is-where do you look for inspiration? He tries the Goth scene, the gay scene, the vegan revolution scene. He tries falling in love, becoming one with mother nature, and passing himself off as an intellectual. But in the end Lindeman just might realize that flying under the radar, being nobody, has its perks. With a tag line of “maybe you don’t have to be somebody to be someone,” “nobody” is connecting with audiences in their teens and early twenties who are themselves trying to figure out what it means to be someone.

The independent film “nobody,” shot in the Twin Cities, is set to have its world premiere in Minneapolis next month. The comedy will screen on Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the State Theatre in downtown Minneapolis.
