“My Sweet Misery” returns to South Carolina

The indie comedy drama “My Sweet Misery” which filmed in South Carolina, opens today Friday in Asheville as part of the Carmike Cinemas’ Independent Film Series.
Set along the Carolina coast, “My Sweet Misery” focuses on Sam (Zach Hanks) and his unpredictable relationships with his sociopathic brother and with two women — one his past enemy and the other his potential savior. One of the women is played by Anna Chlumsky, the former child actress who starred in “My Girl.”
Matthew William Jordan, the film’s writer-director grew up in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and said the film is a fiction inspired by his own life and the lives of people he’s known.
