The new independent film about illegal immigrants, “Sin Social“, will be premiering on November 20, 2009 at the Sidney and Berne Davis Arts Center in Ft. Meyers. The movie, filmed in southwestern Florida, stars Duvier Poviones (Cuba) and Lorena Priscila (Ecuador). It was written and directed by Guillermo Salamanca (Colombia), with a soundtrack composed and performed by Cristal Marie (Dominican Republic).

After seventeen years of witnessing hate crimes against immigrants in Fort Myers, Florida, Guillermo Salamanca takes a courageous step to expose these injustices to humanity. Guillermo turns to the screen with his experience working as a news journalist, which brought him face-to-face with many stories of love, dreams, sorrow, pain and death. After hearing stories of harsh realities, Salamanca was driven to expose the terrible things people are capable of hiding and denying.

Set in Fort Myers, Florida, the film portrays the detailed development of relationships between people of different cultures.

Inspired by true stories, the film recalls the social injustices that many have had to endure and the need for significant immigration reform to protect human rights.
