After nine months of rigorous competition, aspiring filmmaker Philip G. Flores of Hemet, Calif. emerged as the winner of the “Netflix FIND Your Voice” filmmaking competition , it was announced by the project’s presenting partners, Netflix, Inc., the world’s largest online movie rental service, and Film Independent (FIND), the nonprofit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival.

The Nevada City Film Festival announced the “My Nevada City” Video Contest presented by Citizens Bank of Northern California. They are looking for submissions no shorter than 30 seconds and no longer than 2 minutes that uses the town of Nevada City, California as it’s organizing theme.
The winning video will receive a $250 savings account, be screened during the 9th Annual Nevada City Film Festival August 20-23, 2009 and could possibly be used by the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce and Nevada City Downtown Association to promote the great city of Nevada.
Submission Deadline for the “My Nevada City” Video Contest is July 17th at 6pm. Submit on a DVD disc directly to any Citizens Bank branch location – www.citizensbanknc.com/branches.php for locations.

Best Buy is teaming up with Film Independent for the @15 Short Film Contest. The contest is open to filmmakers ages 13-18 and was set up to encourage the artistic and social development of young storytellers through film.
The top prize is a $1,500 Best Buy gift card.
Entries must be postmarked by April 15 and received by April 22, and fifteen finalists will be selected by a panel of judges, and uploaded to www.at15.com/film from May 1-15.
