There are still some issues to resolve such as pricing and the release date for YouTube. Pricing would be similar to VOD and iTunes, which is about $3.99 per movie and the split would 70% for the studio and 30% for YouTube.

- Kate Winslet in Weinstein Company’s “The Reader”
The Weinstein Company has reportedly hired Miller Buckfire, a financial consultant based in New York, to help restructure the company’s finances. Those are built around some $700 million in lending arrangements and $490 million in equity contributed by investors that include Goldman Sachs, the French television broadcaster TF1 and the advertising company WPP Group.
In a statement, the Weinstein Company said it expected to grow, rather than diminish, with help from Miller Buckfire. “They will allow us to expand our animation business, while remaining focused on our other core entertainment assets in movies, television, theater and books,” the statement said.
However, the presence of Miller Buckfire – which has considerable bankruptcy experience and specializes in what its Web site calls “overleveraged” companies whose needs are urgent – signals a more than routine push to reboot the Weinstein operation.
