Autopsy Confirms that Natasha Richardson died of blunt impact to the head

The New York City medical examiner’s office confirmed today after performing an autopsy that actress Natasha Richardson died of blunt impact to the head.

Medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says the  cause of death was “epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head,” and was ruled an accident.

Natasha Richardson died Wednesday at age 45 after suffering a head injury from a skiing accident.

The publicist for Richardson’s husband Liam Neeson, confirmed her death in a written statement.

“Liam Neeson, his sons (Micheal and Daniel), and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha,” the statement said. “They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.” Read more …

Actress Natasha Richardson, the wife of actor, Liam Neeson, was critically injured in a skiing accident in the Quebec resort of Mont Tremblan.  The actress, 45, suffered a “traumatic head injury”.

Update: FOXNews.com is reporting that the 45-year-old actress is brain dead, and being transported back to New York City before she is to be taken off life support.
