Sony Pictures Classics has picked up the North and Latin American rights to Telluride Film Festival hit, Michael Hoffman’s The Last Station. It’s based on Jay Parini’s 1990 biographical novel about famed Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and reportedly made with the support of the Tolstoy family.

“Cold Souls” Acquired By Samuel Goldwyn

Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired “Cold Souls,” the latest Sundance film to be picked up.  The comedy stars Paul Giamatti, who comes upon a procedure that can store and transplant human souls.  Sophie Barthes wrote and directed the film, which is Goldwyn’s first buy of the 2009 Sundance festival.  Read more.
