Best Feature nominee "Amreeka"
The nominees for the 19th annual Gotham Independent Film Awards were announced yesterday by “At the Movies” co-host and New York Times theater critic A.O. Scott. The awards will be held Nov. 30 at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

“Slumdog Millionaire” reportedly edged out “The Wrestler” by one vote for Best Picture of the Year by the Kansas City Film Critics Circle.

The Utah Film Critics Association went mainstream big budget and selected The Dark Knight as Best Picture of 2008 and Heath Ledger as Best Supporting Actor. The biggest surprise, there were no awards for Slumdog Millionaire, a film that made every critics list so far.
