Kidnapped Norwegian journalist/filmmaker freed in Afghanistan

Norwegian freelance journalist Paal Refsdal, kidnapped a week ago in eastern Afghanistan was released Thursday along with his Afghan interpreter, the AP reported. Refsdal was in Afghanistan filming a documentary for a Norwegian production company with funding from the Norwegian Film Institute.

The documentary — “Den Andre Siden,” or “The Other Side” — proposed to “follow three Afghans from a perspective not yet shown in Western media,” giving “a better and more nuanced picture of Afghan society, but on the Afghans’ terms.”

Lindsay Lohan recently landed a role in the independent movie, “The Other Side,” and told producer Kent Harper she would be “serious” and “committed” to the project, which starts filming in October. Variety is reporting that Lindsay Lohan will star in the indie fantasy comedy “The Other Side” alongside Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette.

Story revolves around a grad student who must spend the summer working at a scientific institute on a remote island. She discovers an eccentric community of characters who are hiding a secret about a tragedy that took place many years before. Not sure which role Lohan will play.

Shooting is set for October at an island off the coast of Massachusetts.
