Diablo Cody, 31, who vaulted to stardom as screenwriter of 2007’s “Juno” and winnng an Oscar in the process, is back with the high-school horror movie “Jennifer’s Body.” The movie, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival late last week, debuts in theaters on September 18.

The independent film Tanner Hall, written and directed by Brown University graduates Tatiana von Furstenberg (daughter of fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg) and Francesca Gregorini and filmed entirely in Rhode Island with local crew and talent will have its world premiere today, Monday, at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Tanner Hall is about four girls at a boarding school coping with adolescence and their parents coping with middle age and features an ensemble case of Brie Larson, Tom Everett Scott, Amy Sedaris and Chris Kattan.

Richard Linklater’s “Me and Orson Welles,” will be released theatrically in the U.S. on November 25.

The coming-of-age drama that involves the legendary director’s 1937 staging of “Julius Caesar,” stars Zac Efron and Claire Danes and introduces Christian McKay as the young Orson Welles.

Sony Pictures Classics has grabbed the U.S. and Latin American rights to Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s “Micmacs,” which will debut at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival.
“Micmacs” is described as, “a fantastical comedy about a video store clerk with a bullet lodged in his brain. Knowing he could drop dead at any time, he bands together with an odd collection of outsiders – a mechanical genius, a con man and a contortionist among them – to devise a plan to take down the weapons manufacturer that made the bullet.”

Bradley Rust Gray and So Yong Kim, married directors whose latest films are arriving on New York screens this week.
Ms. Kim’s second feature, “Treeless Mountain,” which had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, will open at Film Forum on Wednesday. Mr. Gray’s second feature, “The Exploding Girl,” which made its debut at the Berlin International Film Festival this year, will screen in competition at the Tribeca Film Festival.

“American Beauty” star Mena Suvari is set to wed for a second time to music producer Simone Sestito’s proposal. The 29-year-old actress and Sestito have been dating for less than a year after meeting at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
Suvari’s first marriage to cinematographer Robert Brinkman ended in divorce two years ago. The couple wed in 2000.
