Now in its seventh year, the Asheville Film Festival featured 93 films and screenplays. The festival winners were announced Saturday night. “16 to Life”,  the first feature from Emmy-nominated writer/director Becky Smith (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) took home the top prize for Best Feature Film.  The film puts a wry, witty, and unpredictable ensemble cast in a small-town locale reminiscent of a Capra comedy. Before the clock strikes midnight, Kate, a 16-year-old rural American teenager, will learn what she has in common with a 16-year-old Chinese girl half a world, and a cultural revolution away.
