Blood will be flowing on the screens of Dendy Newtown, when The Third Annual A Night of Horror International Film Festival returns from March 26 to April 3 to Sydney, Australia. The festival’s opening night film is The Brøken, the creepily atmospheric second feature from Oscar and BAFTA nominated director Sean Ellis, starring Lena Heady.
Throughout the course of the festival, a line-up of national and international filmmakers will be introducing and holding Q&A’s at their screenings. Including: Ursula Dabrowsky (FAMILY DEMONS), Stacey Edmonds and Doug Turner (I KNOW HOW MANY RUNS YOU SCORED LAST SUMMER), Mike Masters (REEL ZOMBIES), John Elfers (FINALE), John Fallon (THE RED HOURS) and visual effects supervisor Ian Hunter (THE DARK NIGHT, SPIDERMAN 3, WAR OF THE WORLDS) whose stunning directorial debut ALLURE is premiering at the fest.
“A Night of Horror Film Festival started out three years ago as an idea of doing a one night event showcasing locally produced short horror films”, festival director Lisa Mitchell explains. “So to see it grow in such little time to a 10 day event screening over 80 films from 14 different countries is really indicative of how much Sydney-siders love their horror cinema.” Despite the festival’s international flavour, co-director Dr. Dean Bertram maintains, “We are more committed than ever to Australian horror films. This year the festival is premiering three Australian features and screening a showcase of Ozploitation shorts at Metro Screen on March 25, to rev everybody up for the festival.”
