The Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded $450,000 to 24 U.S. film festivals for the 2010 calendar year, Festival Grants Committee Chair Buffy Shutt announced on Wednesday.

2009 Cannes Film Festival Opens with “Up”

The animated film ‘UP’ will be the Opening Ceremony film of the 62nd Festival de Cannes, a World Premiere in Disney Digital 3-D on Wednesday May 13th, 2009.
UP, a comedy adventure in which 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen fulfils his dream of a great adventure when he ties thousands of balloons to his house and flies away to the wilds of South America, only to discover that he has brought with him his biggest nightmare, a 9-year-old Wilderness Explorer stowaway.
UP is directed by Pete Docter, director of MONSTERS, INC.

The Ann Arbor Film Festival Tour (AAFF) will stop in San Antonio on Oct. 9 and 10 at the UTSA Buena Vista Theater at the downtown campus. The event is free to the public.
The AAFF tour is a collection of cutting-edge, independent and artistically inspired short films from the 46th Ann Arbor Film Festival across all genres: experimental, documentary, animation and narrative. The festival is touring the globe visiting theaters, art house cinemas, museums, universities and microcinemas.
