The South African Tri Continental Film Festival will kick off from 15 to 24 August at Cinema Nouveau in Rosebank, before moving to Cinema Nouveau at the V&A Waterfront from 22 to 31 August. Thereafter, the film festival travels to Pretoria ’s Brooklyn Nouveau from 29 August to 4 September, and wraps up at Gateway Cinema Nouveau from 5 to 11 September. | Tri Continental Film Festival

The 9th Annual Sacramento Film & Music Festival both opens and closes with features about life in a small town: On Friday, August 8th, the Festival’s Opening Night Feature is the California Premiere of Jake’s Corner in which an ex-football player has to care for his nephew after a family tragedy; and on Sunday, August 17th, the Festival’s Closing Night Feature is War Eagle, Arkansas in which a high school baseball player has to choose between family and friends, and a college scholarship.
