Bicycle Film Festival

The 2009 Bicycle Film Festival is approaching, and they’re looking for films with a strong theme or character of bicycles. This includes all mediums and styles such as animation, experimental, narrative, documentary and music videos. The deadline for entries is March 7th.
The BFF is held in over 17 cities around the world including Tokyo, New York City, Los Angeles, Milan, and London. [via]
NY Surf Film Festival 2009
The 2nd Annual New York Surf Film Festival will return in September 2009.
The New York Surf Film Competition is open to independently produced feature-length and short films in the surf genre. In order to be considered for the Festival’s Film Competition for U.S and International films, submitted films must have been completed after January 1, 2004. The running time for features must be greater than 30 minutes. Short films under 30 minutes in length are eligible for participation in the Short Film Program.
Submissions open from February 2nd to May 31st, 2009.
SheppARTon Festival of 2009
As part of the SheppARTon Festival of 2009, in Victoria, Australia, entries are invited to show original short films in the Shepparton Shorts- Short Film Festival. A total prize pool of over $3000 will be offered for the best films. An additional Shepparton Festival Award for films related to the festival theme of New HorizonsTM.

17th Raindance Film Festival

The 17th Raindance Film Festival is now open for submissions. Raindance is the UK’s leading independent film festival and takes place annually in London’s West End.
Raindance showcases features and shorts made by independent filmmakers from all around the world to an audience of film fans, journalists, acquisition executives, actors, producers and directors. Nearly 2000 films were submitted for last year’s festival, of which just over 200 were screened. Festival admissions were up over 40%.

Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase
The Wexner Center for the Arts, one of central Ohio’s only art institutes, is looking for entries for its 14th annual Ohio Short Film and Video Showcase (full details here).
