imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival & Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT)

CALL FOR PROPOSALS - Make a short film for imagineNATIVE ‘09!

Deadline: Monday March 9th, 2009

Do you have a great idea for a 5-minute short film?  Explore 16mm filmmaking through LIFT’s workshops and production equipment. Shoot and edit your ideas to film, and see your film on screen at the 10th Annual imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, which will take place in Toronto from October 14-18, 2009!

Eligibility Criteria:

  • This call is open to Indigenous (First Nation, Métis, Inuit, other international Indigenous) candidates only;
  • Preference will be given to emerging artists or to video artists who have not worked in film (Note: you do not have to be a youth, but youth may also apply);
  • Candidates must commit to attending the LIFT training workshops from March - August 2009.

Please email your one-page short film idea, a half to one-page statement on why you would like to participate, and a bio to kpotts@imagineNATIVE.org.  Please be certain to indicate your past experience in film and video, and your Indigenous affiliation.  Should you have additional questions, please call Kerry Potts at (416) 585-2333 or kpotts@imagineNATIVE.org.

15th Annual Brainwash Movie Festival

FULLY JURIED

Submit your entries for the 15th Annual Brainwash Movie Festival in Oakland, California.

Shorts are under 13 min., Features under 130 min.

Movies 13-59 min. are Shorts; 60-129 min. are Features.

“Early Bird” Special

Shorts $20, Features $50 by April 15th, 2009 (postmarked)

“On Time” Entries

Shorts $25, Features $65 by May 1st, 2009 (postmarked)

Late Entries

Shorts $35, Features $90 by May 10th, 2009 (postmarked)

RULES:

All entries must be transferred to VHS NTSC or Region 1 or 0 DVD for preview.

Please include clips and/or trailers of your movie(s) and/or links of same to be used in promoting the festival online.

No tapes will be returned unless you include $4.60 or whatever it costs to priority mail your stuff back.

All accepted entries will be notified by mail - enclose your name and address.

Tallgrass Film Festival

The Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA) and the Tallgrass Film Festival announced their call for submissions for the 7th Annual Tallgrass Film Festival to be held October 22-25 in Wichita, Kansas at the Warren Old Town Theatres and other downtown venues.

Submissions from Kansas filmmakers, and high school filmmakers from around the country will not require a submission fee, however, all official submission forms must be filled out as usual at www.withoutabox.com and filmmakers must submit a valid Kansas address or a copy of a valid high school ID, respectively, to request the fee waiver.

The entry deadline for film submissions is July 13, 2009 with a late submission deadline of July 27, 2009. (Fees: Features $50, Shorts $25/Late Submission Fee: Features $100, Shorts $50).

The Early Bird Deadline offers reduced submission fees; however, films must be submitted by April 6, 2009, to qualify for the discount. (Fees: Features: $40 and Shorts: $15).
