The Academy Foundation of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded $450,000 to 24 U.S. film festivals for the 2010 calendar year, Festival Grants Committee Chair Buffy Shutt announced on Wednesday.

The Provincetown Film Festival ended its 10th anniversary celebration of independent filmmaking this evening by awarding the following:
The Audience Award for Best Feature Film was given to FROZEN RIVER, directed by Courtney Hunt
The Audience Award for Best Documentary was given to FLOW: FOR LOVE OF WATER , directed by Irena Salina
The Audience Award for Best Short Film was given to WHO I AM, directed by Whitney Peters
The John Schlesinger Award (awarded to a first time filmmaker) was given to Lance Hammer, director of BALLAST
The Student Film Competition Grand Jury Award was given to RABIA, directed by Muhammad Ali Hasan
The Student Film Competition Special Jury Prize was given to THE SHERIFF, directed by Jeff M. Giordano
As part of the Festival’s celebration of independent careers in film, the following awards were also given over the weekend: QUENTIN TARANTINO was awarded the Filmmaker on The Edge Award (sponsored by The Boston Phoenix); GAEL GARCIA BERNAL received The Excellence In Acting Award (sponsored by Werc Werk Works): and JANE LYNCH received the Faith Hubley Memorial Award (sponsored by the Ritchie-Davis Foundation).
