Andrea Arnold’s “Fish Tank” and Javier Rebello’s “Woman Without Piano” were announced as the winners of the inaugural AFI Fest New Lights Competition.  Scandar Copti’s and Yaron Shani’s “Ajami” received a special jury mention.

Tina Mabry’s drama Mississippi Damned was awarded the top prize at the Chicago International Film Festival winning the CIFF Gold Plaque for Best Picture, in addition to Best Screenplay for director Tina Mabry and Best Supporting Actress for Jossie Harris. Based on a true story, Mississippi Damned is the brutally honest tale of what happens when a family’s haven is also its prison - a vicious cycle of abuse, addiction, and lies.
