The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) announced this year’s festival dates, Thursday, October 13 – Monday, October 17, 2011. The festival, which is usually held over Columbus Day Weekend, is launching one week later in 2011 in order to honor Yom Kippur, which falls during Columbus Day Weekend this year. HIFF plans to return to its regular Columbus Day Weekend dates in 2012 (October 4 – 8, 2012) to celebrate its 20th Anniversary.

“We are excited to announce our 2011 festival dates and look forward to bringing another year of great programming and talent to the Long Island community,” says Executive Director Karen Arikian. “In addition to the festival, we will also continue our expansion of year-round programming of films and events which will involve our on-going partners such as MoMA and Guild Hall as well as new relationships with several prestigious organizations in New York and on the east end, which we will announce soon. We are pleased to kick off 2011 with a screening and program hosted by Board Member, Alec Baldwin at Guild Hall in East Hampton on February 19th.” Director of Programming, David Nugent adds, “It continues to be a goal of the Hamptons International Film Festival to bring world class filmmakers, provocative and innovative films, as well as an open forum for discussion to the community”
