The Calgary International Film Festival announced the Second Wave of Films screening at the 2016 festival. This selection of films, both features and shorts, are some of the most buzzed-about titles that have picked up major awards from other festivals.

“This year we decided to broaden our scope for international films and cast a wide net looking for films from all corners of the world,” said Sachin Gandhi, World Cinema Features Programmer. “With films from six continents, we have broken new ground by selecting films from nations that have never been at CIFF.”

“These films have collected top prizes at multiple film festivals,” added Gandhi, “including Cannes, Hot Docs, SXSW, Tribeca, Buenos Aires, Jerusalem, Montreal, Seattle and Adelaide.”
