Jordanian actress Saba Mubarak and Egyptian actress Arwa Gouda will be jury members of the 38th edition of Cairo International Film Festival taking place November 15 to 24, 2016. The international jury will be headed by German director Christian Petzold.
Saba Mubarak is a Jordanian actress born in 1976 in the village of Ajlun in Jordan. She received a bachelor’s degree in theatre acting and directing from Yarmouk University in 2001. She started her career in the series Magic and a Moon in 1998, after which she scored several successful roles in Jordanian and Syrian television like Omar al Khayam, Balqis and The Immigrating Spirits. Saba’s debut in Jordanian cinema was in 2003 through the film Sifr Al Ganha. She also appeared in the films Out of Coverage and Kingdom of the Ants. Saba started working in Egypt in 2010 with her role in the film Bentein Men Masr, and she also appeared in several Egyptian television series including Sharbat Louz, Hikayat Banat, Nassim El Rouh, Moga Harra, Asia, El Ahd, and Afrah Al Qoba.
Arwa Gouda started her career as a model at the age of 13. After having spent most of her childhood and adolescence in Saudi Arabia, she came back to Egypt to study at the Naval Academy. She was selected as the “Best Model of the World” in 2004, which launched her acting career. Her first role in a movie was in Joys of Life (2005), followed by None but That (2006), Ala Ganb Ya Asta (2008), Zay El Naharda (2008). She then starred in El Alamy, Al Wattar, Villa 69, and The Island 2. She also played in TV series such as Al Moatn Ex, Khatout Hamra, Napoleon wel Mahrousa, and El Kalam El Mobah.
