Andrea Arnold’s American Honey was the big winner at the 2016 British Independent Film Awards winning four awards, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director for Andrea Arnold, Best Actress for Sasha Lane and Outstanding Achievement in Craft for Robbie Ryan.

Babak Anvari’s Under the Shadow, UK’s entry for 2017 Oscar for Best Foreign Film competition, won three awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Avin Manshadi, and The Douglas Hickox Award (Debut Director) for Babak Anvari.

Notes on Blindness won the award for Best Documentary and Moonlight continued its winning streak grabbing the award for Best International Independent Film.
