Prague Independent Film Festival 2019 (PIFF) returns for the fourth year to the Kino Pilotů cinema with some of the best new films from all over the world presented by international filmmakers.

The festival will begin with the American independent film “Night Walk”, directed by Aziz Tazi, a Moroccan director from Los Angeles. It is a thrilling crime drama about a man wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his wife, with major film stars, such as Mickey Rourke, Eric Roberts, and Sean Stone. The film will be presented by the director himself. 

The film “Away from the Shore” from award winning Bulgarian director Kostadin Bonev, is a drama about a talented theater director who has been expelled from the capital for two years and has been sent to a small provincial theater. He aims to stage a play about people who are under constant surveillance and living in fear of punishment. Gradually, the nightmares of the play begin to take over the reality.

The film “M” by Anna Eriksson will conclude the festival, which is a work of art that explores the relationship between sexuality and death. These two appear to be at opposite poles, but in fact they merge in all of us, disguising the fear of death or the desire to die, the world of Eros. Anna Eriksson, famous Finnish singer, not only directed the film, composed the score, but also plays the protagonist. She will come to Prague to present her film.

There is also a wide selection of short films and music videos available at the festival. 

Music video “Dark like night. Karenina-2019” has an all-star cast, featuring Yulia Peresild, Konstantin Khabensky, Ingeborga Dapkunaite and others. Music by Boris Grebenshikov (founder of the cult rock group Aquarium) was used in the music video, and was directed by well-known Russian film and television director Radda Novikova, who will come to the festival to present her work.
