Yung Lean: In My Head

The music documentary Yung Lean: In My Head directed by Henrik Burman on Swedish hip hop artist Yung Lean (Jonatan Leandoer Håstad) opens on digital platforms and VOD on January 18th, 2021.

The documentary featuring Axel Tufvesson,Carl-Mikael Berlander, Benjamin Reichwald, Emilio Fagone, and Oskar Ekman premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.

At the age of 15, Jonatan Leandoer spends most of his days in his bedroom in southern Stockholm drinking milkshakes, playing video games, and listening to rap music. He does not have many friends, but he has his computer and his alter ego: Yung Lean, an imaginary persona created to be everything that Jonatan is not; a terrifying, nasty and powerful rap star. When he puts a song on YouTube that quickly and unexpectedly reaches millions of views, it catapults him onto the radars of the biggest names in the industry, including Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, and Justin Bieber. As Jonatan begins to fade away, the imaginary character Yung Lean takes over, and his triumph turns into a nightmare.

A success story of magnitudes never before seen by a Swedish hip hop artist, Yung Lean: In My Head is a riveting generational tale portraying a young boy’s passage into adulthood, his journey with drugs, death, mental illness, and conquering adversity.
