ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Detroit Independent Film Festival was a film festival started by cinephiles, film buffs, and filmmakers. Our passion lies in the art of filmmaking. The festival is held at the Burton Theatre and on the Campus of Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Our first years' motto was "filmmakers first" and continued to be the motto for our second installment of the Festival. Unlike most festivals that constrain themselves to a specific niche, the DIFF was open to all genre's and styles of filmmaking. The festival accepted art-house, comedies, experimental, underground horror, family films, or nearly any other genre you can think of. Afterall, variety is what the DIFF is known for!
