The Heartland International Film Festival announced the official selections for its 28th edition, with Marielle Heller’s Tom Hanks’ starrer A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD as the Opening Night Gala film,

SYNOPSIS: After losing her beloved mother Vera in a tragic accident, 14-year-old Sam has taken on the responsibility of looking after her father and two little brothers. One morning as she rushes to school, a speeding truck causes Sam’s to meet a similar untimely end. With the help of her oddball guardian angel Martin, Sam is soon reunited with her mother in the afterlife. Though Vera is overjoyed to see her daughter again, she has no intention of allowing their reunion to be permanent. Vera is adamant that her daughter must return to the world of the living; Sam is determined to bring her mother back with her.
The Seattle International Film Festival announced the 2019 Awards and the top prizes – Audience Award for Best Film went to Tel Aviv on Fire and We Are the Radical Monarchs won for Best Documentary.
Over 11 days, the 2019 Atlanta Film Festival will present 31 feature length films plus 98 short films, including an array of music videos, virtual reality and episodic pilots.
More than 40 films will compete in the three feature film juried competitions at the 43rd Cleveland International Film Festival for $30,000 in cash prizes.
