DIFF-accredited students will be able to attend and participate in workshops, panel discussions, master classes, networking sessions and screenings in addition to receiving special access to the Festival’s specialist teams. All told, they will have the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes of the region’s leading film festival.

Eligible students can register at the DIFF website, www.dubaifilmfest.com. All applications must be supported by a letter from their college or university or relevant faculty member.

Shivani Pandya, Managing Director of the Dubai International Film Festival, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for experiential and real-world learning through exposure to accomplished producers, directors, crew experts, business executives, international cinema and Festival operations teams. For film students who are serious about their craft, DIFF is the place to be.”

“Today’s film students will be tomorrow’s filmmakers, and by giving them a voice at this stage we will be able to build a better and more modern industry and give young people the tools they need to succeed,” she added.

The new film student registration adds to DIFF’s existing student-focused initiatives: the DIFF Young Journalist Award, open to media students in the UAE, and the DIFF Students Day, an open forum for secondary schools and university students.

With less than six weeks until DIFF 2010, industry and media registration numbers are climbing steadily, the Festival added. DIFF 2009 drew more than 3,100 accredited media and industry delegates from more than 65 nations, and is expected to draw higher numbers this year.

Industry registration is open to companies and individuals involved in film financing and funding, film commissions, production and post-production, sales, distribution, legal services and archives among others. A detailed list of eligible categories is available on the DIFF website.

Industry professionals registered by November 5 will be included in the Dubai Film Market guide. Free industry registration closes on November 15.

DIFF 2010 is held in association with Dubai Studio City and supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. Dubai Duty Free, Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Pearl, Emirates Airline and Madinat Jumeirah are the principal sponsors of DIFF.
