Good Deed Entertainment released the new trailer for Summertime, from Blindspotting director Carlos López Estrada, which premiered as one of the opening night films of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Summertime is scheduled to be released in the summer.

Summertime chronicles the intersecting stories of 25 young spoken word poets over a day in Los Angeles including Tyris Winter, Marquesha Babers, Maia Mayor, Austin Antoine, Bryce Banks, Amaya Blankenship, Bene’t Benton, Raul Herrera, Mila Cuda, Gordon Ip, Jason Alvarez, Hanna Harris, Anna Osuna, Walter Finnie, Olympia Miccio, Paolina Acuña-González, Madyson Park, Xochitl Morales, and Zach Perlmutter.

Born of the director’s mind-blowing interaction with a workshop where performers from across the City of Angels recited fearlessly personal texts, the project was structured so that their voices could individually shine as well as coalesce in the context of a larger, unified, and gloriously moving narrative experiment – part urban musical and part sociological art.

Director Carlos López Estrada’s debut film, Blindspotting, premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a DGA Award. He recently joined Walt Disney Animation Studios to direct an original film.
