Paris, 13th District by Jacques Audiard official trailer
Paris, 13th District by Jacques Audiard

IFC Films debuted the official trailer for Paris, 13th District (Les Olympiades), the French black-and-white drama film starring stars Lucie Zhang, Makita Samba, Jehnny Beth and Noémie Merlant as four young people who fall in and out of love (and sex) with each other while figuring out their lives in Paris.

The film, set amid the towers of the Olympiades, the high-rise neighborhood in Paris’s 13th arrondissement from which the film takes its French title, is loosely based on the short comic stories by graphic novelist Adrian Tomine.

Directed by Palme d’Or–winner Jacques Audiard (Dheepan), Paris, 13th District had its world premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and its North American premiere at 2021 Toronto International Film Festival; and opens in theaters and VOD on April 15, 2022.

Émilie (newcomer Lucie Zhang) rents her spare room to a handsome teacher (Makita Samba), but the two quickly become flatmates with benefits. Nora (Noémie Merlant, Portrait of a Lady on Fire) is mistaken for a webcam porn star and decides to track her counterpart down. Adapting a graphic novel by frequent New Yorker illustrator Adrian Tomine and filming in beautifully muted black and white in a decidedly unromantic corner of the City of Lights, Palme d’Or winner Audiard (A Prophet, Dheepan) explores love and longing in the 21st century.
