Strand Releasing revealed the official trailer for Will-o’-the-Wisp (Fogo-Fátuo), a Portuguese musical fantasy film starring Mauro Costa as Alfredo, the crown prince of Portugal who becomes a volunteer fireman and falls for a fellow fireman.
Also starring in the film are Joel Branco, Oceano Cruz, Margarida Vila-Nova, Miguel Loureiro, Dinis Vila-Nova, Luisa Castelo Branco, Vasco Redondo, Teresa Madruga, Ana Bustorff, João Mota, Paulo Bragança, Anabela Moreira, Raquel Rocha Vieira, Cláudia Jardim, Joana Barrios and João Villas-Boas.
Directed by João Pedro Rodrigues, Will-o’-the-Wisp world premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight program at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, followed by its North American premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival; and will be released in theaters, opening on May 26th at the IFC Center in New York City.
On his deathbed, his royal highness Alfredo, king without a crown, is taken back to distant youth memories and the time he dreamt of becoming a fireman. The encounter with instructor Afonso from the fire brigade opens a new chapter in the life of the two young men immersed in love and desire, and the will to change the status quo.
