High School is gonna leave a mark!

Orion Pictures revealed the official red band trailer for Bottoms, the raunchy sex comedy film starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri as high school senior girls who set up a fight club as a way to hook up with cheerleaders.

Also starring in the movie are Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, with Dagmara Dominczyk and Marshawn Lynch.

Directed by Emma Seligman (Shiva Baby), Bottoms world premiered at the 2023 SXSW film festival, and will open in select theaters with a release date of August 25th.

Bottoms, a refreshingly unique raunchy comedy, focuses on two girls, PJ and Josie, who start a fight club as a way to lose their virginities to cheerleaders. Their bizarre plan works. The fight club gains traction and soon the most popular girls in school are beating each other up in the name of self-defense. But PJ and Josie find themselves in over their heads and in need of a way out before their plan is exposed. Directed by Emma Seligman and starring Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edibiri.

In its review, Variety called the film, “a high-school comedy that is brazenly gonzo, scaldingly and at times even dementedly over-the-top, and actually about something… “

“”Bottoms” is the rare high-school comedy that could be called a ride. The film’s caustic relentlessness, which takes more than a bit of getting used to (this is not your older sister’s earnest coming-out fable), might have been too much if the film weren’t also a journey. It flips the bird not merely at men but at feminism. “Who is bell hooks, and why should we care?” says one character. Yet there’s a freakish joy at work in how Seligman tears down the very universe of high-school comedy only to build it back up into a comic book of aggression that does nothing less than remake the social order. The big game at the end is a triumphant sequence, as stylized as a musical. “Bottoms” won’t be for everyone, but it’s a movie of outrageously forward-looking talent.”
