Following the world premiere at DOC NYC, the documentary Chasing Childhood will screen at upcoming film festivals across the country in March and April, including Portland International Film Festival (March 5-14) and Sonoma International Film Festival (March 24-28).

Directed by Margaret Munzer Loeb and Eden Wurmfeld, Chasing Childhood explores the rapidly changing landscape of contemporary childhood and parenting, taking us to three communities that are trying to shift culture to create room for play and independence with the hope of raising kids to become competent, healthy, and happy adults.

Overprotected and overdirected, American children are wilting under the weight of well-meaning parents. In the pursuit of keeping them safe and creating an impressive resumé of extracurricular activities to wow admissions boards, over-parenting smothers children across socioeconomic classes. Chasing Childhood follows education professionals and reformed helicopter parents who seek and offer solutions for developing more confident, independent young people while restoring some joy and freedom to childhood.
