The French comedy film Bye Bye Morons (Adieu Les Cons) dominated the 46th César Awards, wining Best Film along with Best Director for Albert Dupontel, Best Supporting Actor for Nicolas Mairé, Best Original Screenplay, Cinematography and Production Design.
Other winners include were Sébastien Lifshitz’s Adolescentes won for Best Documentary, Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round won for Best Foreign Film and Filippo Meneghetti’s Two Of Us, won Best First Film.
A major highlight of the show was when actress Corinne Masiero, wearing a donkey outfit and a blood-stained dress to present the award for Costume Design, then stripped naked on stage to protest against the government’s closure of theatres and cinemas during the coronavirus pandemic. Corinne Masiero had “no culture no future” written on her chest and “give us art back Jean” on her back, referring to the prime minister, Jean Castex.
