Todd Fields’ Tár led the nominations for the 32nd Annual Gotham Awards with five nods including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Performance for Cate Blanchett and two in Best Supporting Performance for Nina Hoss and Noémie Merlant.
A24 had the biggest day, with 15 nominations including two in Best Feature (Aftersun and Everything Everywhere All At Once) and three in the Breakthrough Director category (Charlotte Wells for Aftersun, Elegance Bratton for The Inspection, Owen Kline for Funny Pages).
The non-gendered acting categories leaned heavily to women in lead (7-3) with nominees Cate Blanchett in TÁR, Danielle Deadwyler in Till, Dale Dickey in A Love Song, Taylor Russell in Bones and All, Thandiwe Newton in God’s Country, Aubrey Plaza in Emily the Criminal and Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once.
The supporting performance section was split evenly 5-5 for women and men with Raúl Castillo in The Inspection, Brian Tyree Henry in Causeway, Ke Huy Quan in Everything Everywhere All At Once, Mark Rylance in Bones and All and Ben Whishaw in Women Talking.
Special awards – Adam Sandler along with Michelle Williams will receive a Performer Tribute Awards, and the cast of Andrew Ahn’s Fire Island (Booster, Bowen Yang, Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Matt Rogers, Tomás Matos, Torian Miller, Nick Adams, Zane Phillips, and Margaret Cho) will receive the Ensemble Tribute Award.
The 32nd annual Gotham Awards Ceremony will take place live and in-person on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
