The Woman King was named Best Film of 2022 by the Black Film Critics Circle, besting critics favorite Everything Everywhere All At Once which came in 4th. Other top honors went to Brendan Fraser for Best Actor for The Whale; Danielle Deadwyler for Best Actress for Till and Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Actor for Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Other top film honors including Best Documentary went to Fire of Love and Best Foreign Film to RRR.

This year’s BFCC Pioneer Award was given to Viola Davis; BFCC Rising star Award for went to Adamma Ebo for her feature-length directorial debut for Honk For Jesus; and a Special Mention went to Nikyatu Jusu, for her horror film Nanny.
