Rise and Shine World Sales shared the first look trailer for Of Caravan and the Dogs, Askold Kurov’s investigative documentary film making its Nordic premiere at CPH:DOX 2024 (March 13-24, 2024) in Copenhagen as part of the Urgent Matters program.

Filmmaker Askold Kurov (“The Trial – The State of Russia vs. Oleg Sentsov”, “Children 404”) along with Anonymous1 investigates Russia’s abuse of power and its arbitrariness in dealing with those who think differently.

Film’s synopsis reads, “Putin had been preparing his country for the big war against its own people long before it started. Since 2012, a series of repressive laws were passed, labelling everyone who publicly disagreed with the official narrative as “foreign agent”. In these circumstances, a group of independent Russian media and activists are trying to resist and continue their work. Right after the invasion of Ukraine their work becomes virtually impossible. The journalists and activists are threatened with prison sentences and forced to make difficult moral choices in the midst of total war censorship: should they stay or leave the country, should they go to jail or save their team, should they adapt to the new reality or stay true to their principals and close their media? “

“Shot during one decisive year, before and after the invasion, the new film by fearless filmmaker Askold Kurov who also produced the film portrays the last defenders of democracy in Russia and gives a glimpse of hope for another future.”
