Elia Suleiman’s new comedy film, It Must Be Heaven, which won FIPRESCI prize of the international film critics for Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival has been selected by Palestine as the country’s submission in the Best International Feature category at the 92nd Academy Awards.
It Must Be Heaven, stars Suleiman as he escapes from Palestine seeking an alternative homeland, only to find that Palestine is trailing behind him. The promise of a new life turns into a comedy of errors: however far he travels, from Paris to New York, something always reminds him of home.
