Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Wendell & Wild are among the animated films receiving nominations for the 50th Annual Annie Awards recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation. This year’s ceremony is scheduled to return Live on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

This year’s Best Animated Feature nominations include: Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, The Sea Beast and Wendell & Wild.

Best Animated Feature-Independent, spotlighting features with a much smaller distribution footprint than major studio releases include: Charlotte, Inu-Oh. Little Nicholas, Happy As Can Be, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and My Father’s Dragon.

Juried Awards will also be presented honoring unparalleled achievement and exceptional contributions to animation. Winsor McCay Award recipients have been selected by the ASIFA-Hollywood Board of Directors for their exemplary industry careers.

This year’s McCays will go to Pete Docter, Evelyn Lambart and Craig McCracken.

The June Foray Award will be presented to Mindy Johnson. The Visual Effects Reference Platform, initially developed by Nick Cannon and Francois Chardavoine will receive The Ub lwerks Award. The Certificate of Merit Award for service to the art and industry will be presented to John Omohundro.
