Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators -Netflix Official and Trailer Release Date

Netflix shared the official trailer for Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators, a documentary series on the popular late ’80s and early ’90s tv show featuring everyday people from across the US engaged in physical competition against professionals known as gladiators.

Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Murder Among the Mormons) and Emmy winner Tony Vainuku (Independent Lens: In Football We Trust), the docuseries premieres globally on Netflix on June 28, 2023.

Muscles & Mayhem: An Unauthorized Story of American Gladiators chronicles the meteoric rise, dramatic fall, and gripping behind-the-scenes stories of one of the biggest spectacles on television during the height of the ’90s. Told first hand from the stars who lived through it, this five part series reveals untold stories of the iconic American Gladiators’ triumph, turmoil, and ultimate price of fame.

Gladiators featured in the documentary are Michael Horton, aka Gemini; Raye Hollitt, aka Zap; Jim Starr, aka Laser; Sha-ri Pendleton, aka Blaze; Danny Lee Clark, aka Nitro; Lori Fetrick, aka Ice; Steve Henneberry, aka Tower and Lisa McCullough, the original Zap. Also include are footage of former gladiators Lace (Marisa Pare), Sunny (Cheryl Baldinger), Malibu (Deron Michael McBee) and more.
