Some call it punk rock, some call it grass roots, but labels aside - NYC based Animation Block Party is the premier animation festival of the East Coast. Since the first official ABP film festival on September 9th, 2004 - thousands of filmmakers have submitted their animated shorts and screened them at the yearly festival.

The official lineup is now available online for the eleventh annual Animation Block Party film festival taking place July 24-27 2014 at Rooftop Films and BAMcinématek in Brooklyn, NYC. This summer’s edition of ABP includes a free outdoor show on Opening Night
at Arts Brookfield, special programs from Animation Breakdown Roundup and Titmouse 5 Second Day – plus a 35mm screening of the classic film, SpaceJam at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

The 10th annual Animation Block Party was held at The Music Hall of Williamsburg, Rooftop Films and BAMcinématek in Brooklyn New York from July 25-28, 2013. Held anually since 2004, filmmakers of all genres have screened some of the best independent, professional and student animation shorts. This year was described by the festival as a record-breaking summer with over 4000 in total attendance and multiple sold out screenings. The festival announced the complete list of winners of 2013 Animation Block Party, with HISTORY OF PETS directed by Kris Genijn of Netherlands winning the top prize Best In Show.
Animation Block Party’s tenth annual animation festival will be held July 25 thru 28, 2013 in Brooklyn. The festival is currently accepting filmmaker submissions until May 31,2013. ABP 2013 will exhibit nearly 100 short films in competition alongside numerous special programs including a screening of Beavis and Butt-head Do America in 35mm, a rare showing of Secret of NIMH and silent shorts fromTom Stathes’ Cartoons On Film.
The eighth annual Animation Block Party held July 29-July 31, 2011 in Brooklyn at Rooftop Films and BAMcinématek announced the juried award winners from its lineup of 97 films.
